San Francisco's drubbing of George Lucas's theme-parkish museum proposal for Crissy Field may have pushed the Star Wars creator into the modern world, according to a light psychoanalysis of Lucas by John King. That Lucas enlisted the ubercontemporary Chinese firm MAD Architects for his new attempt on Chicago's waterfront is either evidence of Hollywood pragmatism or—if we really want to read into it!—an acknowledgement that nothing very original will ever get built in San Francisco.
