This Frilly Pink Russian Hill Disaster Just Sold for $1.81M

New, 9 comments

Over in Russian Hill, a rather grandmotherly home full of tufted velvet sofas and floral lace draperies has just sold for a depressingly modern $1.81 million price. The house is generally uninspiring from its dull cream-colored facade on in, but it is also fairly sizable, with four bedrooms and 2,016 square feet of space. The majority of the place is swathed in carpet of a hue that waffles somewhere between pink and orange, and the entryway is painted mint green. The kitchen is about as outdated as they come, and we even spotted some hanging-bead decor covering the pantry door. Beneath these decorating choices, however, there is charm. The home was built in 1907 and has period touches, from a box beam ceiling in the dining room to stained glass and traditional fireplaces. We very much hope that the new owners don't rip out all of the character along with the pink carpet. Unless they plan to open a bridal boutique, in which case, just leave it all.
