Watch This Anza Vista Edwardian Sacrifice Its Soul for Parking

New, 6 comments

Just under a year ago, a lovely Edwardian duplex with renovation plans already approved sold for $1.805 million. The building's units were filled with lovely woodwork, stained glass windows, and brick fireplaces. The lower unit had already been updated with a new kitchen, but its modernized touches weren't enough to save it from a down-to-the-studs renovation. Flippers purchased the building for all cash and set about whitewashing its charm. The reno added 1,000 feet of living space, a roof deck, and a two-car garage, but appears to have torn out the building's soul. There is still a bit of stained glass, but the original fireplaces have been replaced by shiny modern ones and the woodwork has been stripped and flattened. The two units are now back on the market as a pair for $3.499 million, a hefty $1.699 million jump. Poor Edward just can't catch a break these days.
