Pier Pressure

New, 1 comment

The 13 waterfront acres at Piers 30-32 could collapse into San Francisco Bay in the next 10 years unless they are rehabilitated, a project that could cost as much as $87 million. Plenty of uses have been proposed for the piers, from the Warriors' arena to the George Lucas museum, but none have panned out. The Port of San Francisco does not have the money to pay for the maintenance and seismic upgrades needed to keep the piers intact and is currently weighing its options. [SF Examiner]
