After years of decrepitude, the Lake Merced Boathouse reopened yesterday with a brand-new $3.2M renovation. The revamp brings a new ramp, a refurbished balcony, and retooled interiors, as well as much-needed equipment upgrades. Thanks to the cash infusion (funded jointly by the Public Utilities Commission and Rec and Park) the boathouse has come a long way since the old days, when the PGA used fences to conceal it from spectators during golf tournaments at Harding Park.
