Whether NoPa is a confabulation invented by realtors skittish of the old Western Addition name or a geographic descriptor that accurately denotes a place on the city map depends on who you're talking to—and when. Hoodline has the history on the shifting bounds of Western Addition (which back in 1865 meant everything west of Larkin Street) and the comparatively recent popularity of the panhandle-inspired moniker. If you have a date in Western Addition, will she be waiting in NoPa? [Hoodline/Photo via David Rumsey]
