Pinterest to Pay Design Center Shops to Photogenically Scram

New, 3 comments

Decorating pix emporium Pinterest announced today that it will help ease the pain that its own real-estate deal will inflict on the Design District shops currently churning out all those pinnable wallpapers and window treatments that its users love to ogle. The social networking site may be pushing out viable businesses when it takes over the entirety of 2 Henry Adams Street, but Pinterest says, via press release, that it will do the honorable thing and assist the displaced by paying first and last month's rent for the new spaces they procure in the district. "Ultimately, our hope is that Pinterest's place in the design district actually strengthens the identity of the area and helps it continue as a vibrant community for years to come," Pinterest general counsel Mike Yang writes without a hint of irony.
