Andrew Mason, the ousted founder of the daily deals site Groupon, has now turned his attention to creating high-quality, app-based walking tours of San Francisco with his new company, Detour. The first four tours, which will soon be publicly available, take users beyond the traditional tourist spots and focus on revealing hyperlocal details and telling stories about the city's neighborhoods. Mason is also working on an architectural tour and a collaboration with local publishing house McSweeney's. [The Verge]
