The Rent Was Too Damn High

Commercial rents in San Francisco have soared 75 percent in the past three years, meaning that some businesses are choosing to buy their office space. The Yves Béhar-led branding agency fuseproject recently inked a deal on the distinctively graffitoed 20,625-square-foot Potrero Hill building at 1401 16th Street, where they already keep shop. Owning the building allows fuseproject to keep its office costs stable and remain in San Francisco despite increasing rents. [The Registry]
