FINANCIAL DISTRICT—The biggest opening this week is Pabu and The Ramen Bar, a new duo of FiDi Japanese restaurants from Michael Mina and Ken Tominaga. Tour the massive complex at 101 California, and learn more about Pabu's ambitious cocktail program.

SAN FRANCISCO—The Eater 38 is freshly updated! Here's our list of the 38 essential San Francisco restaurants you have to try.

SAN FRANCISCO—Also updated: the Bay Area Heatmap, with the 20 newest restaurants to burst onto the local scene.

OAKLAND—Cat Town Cafe, the forthcoming Oakland cat cafe, has found a space in Oakland. If it makes its planned September opening date, it'll be America's first permanent cat cafe.

BAY AREA—The Patio Heatmap has a fresh update, with 11 new spots to eat and drink outdoors the next time a warm spell descends on the city.

MARINA—Cool new bistro Causwells has a former Flour + Water chef in the kitchen, a sleek Bon Vivants design, and a nice selection of wines by the glass. Check it out.

BERKELEY—The Bay Area's first-ever paleo restaurant is headed to Berkeley. Those who've given up gluten, legumes, sweets, and all the other dietary rulebreakers are stoked.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT—Underground nightclub Hawthorn makes its debut today, with artisanal cocktails inspired by '70s and '80s nostalgia (think Slippery Nipples and Midori sours) and a state-of-the-art sound system that's the first of its kind in the U.S.
