A Chicago-based team has emerged as the top contender to develop Transbay's Block 5 with a proposal for a 43-story office building on the site. Developers Golub Real Estate and the John Buck Company, with architects Goettsch Partners and Solomon Cordwell Buenz, offered $172.5 million for the site, leading a pack that also includes the duo of Flower Market suitor Kilroy and skyline bedazzler Pelli Clarke Pelli.
