Meg Ryan's Old Pac Heights Home Settles for Less Than Asking

New, 1 comment

Last month, we brought you the news that an impeccable Pacific Heights home once owned by Meg Ryan and then-husband Dennis Quaid in the 1990s was up for sale for $8.995 million. The stunning property, which had also been used for Pottery Barn and Design Within Reach catalog shoots, includes 6 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and an bucketload of Queen Anne-style details. It sold yesterday for $8.25M, which, while impressive, was well beneath the initial ask of $8.995M. The house was built back in 1889 by architect Samuel Newsom, designer of the Oakland and Berkeley city halls and the Napa Valley Opera House. It has been perfectly preserved and features a Jacuzzi tub with views of the bay and a uniquely shaped pentroom on the top floor with a glassed-in turret. So why the $770K chop from the list price? According to coverage in SF Gate, the previous owner had recently died, so perhaps a quick sale was a more important than staying on the market and waiting for Tom Hanks to call.
