Menlo Park has an initiative on its November ballot that would reject two proposed developments near Caltrain and impede future development along El Camino Real. The proposal received 2,400 signatures, but the outreach effort was funded in large part by one person, the venture capitalist Gary Lauder. Given the extreme need for new housing in the Bay Area, Google bus protesters may want to head down to the South Bay to voice an opinion about this one. [SF Streetsblog/Almanac News]
