Modernizing Muni

New, 1 comment

San Francisco will be receiving $1.2 billion worth of new Muni light-rail vehicles to replace and expand its current fleet if a contract approved yesterday by the Municipal Transportation Agency clears the Board of Supervisors. The contract calls for 260 new cars to be built, with the first arriving by the end of 2016. The cars should be less breakdown-prone than today's fleet, and will include black boxes to help find the causes of accidents. [SFGate]
