Today the Board of Supervisors will vote on an ordinance that would provide compensation or substitute housing for tenants when their landlords make seismic upgrades. The proposed legislation comes on the heels of new requirements for seismic retrofitting to wood-frame buildings of three or more stories built before 1978 with at least five dwelling units. The measure gives landlords the option to pay their tenants during the disruption or find them other housing. [SF BOS/previously]
