Office Conversion Red Tape

Supervisor Malia Cohen is introducing interim zoning controls to require conditional-use authorization for office conversion in landmark buildings in areas zoned for Production/Distribution/Repair (basically manufacturing and warehouses). As is, office use is only allowed within the PDR-1-D district if the building is a designated landmark, so this would add a level of Planning Commission approval to the mix. This comes hot on the heels of Pinterest's (failed) play to convert the SF Design Center building into their new office space, which Sup. Cohen stopped in its tracks last week. [SF BOS/previously]
