With its unfinished foamy blue ceilings and dated decor, Powell Street Station has been looking a little rough around the edges lately. BART wants to change that. At the end of last month, the transit agency held a first round of community meetings and surveys to determine what San Franciscans want to see happen at Powell. BART is currently looking to implement a host of improvements that range from beefing up security to upgrading the transit hub's paltry retail selection. Of course, it'll be a while before construction crews begin sprucing things up. Meanwhile, SFist has a doohickey that lets you play with different ceiling finishes, one of which looks like it belongs in an airport. Should things go smoothly, BART expects to complete the redo in 2018.
