323-Unit Avalon Bay Rental Complex on its Way to Dogpatch

A three-building apartment complex is on its way to replace the San Francisco Opera's warehouse building, where currently costumes are stored and sets are designed. The project comes from Avalon Bay, the developers responsible for Ava on Market Street and athesprawling new rental building under construction at Octavia Boulevard's former Hayes Valley Farm site. Like the Hayes Valley project, the three 58-foot tall Dogpatch buildings would each be designed by a different architect in order to break up the design and make the development feel less like a complex. There would be 230 parking spaces included and plenty of open space, including a rooftop deck and three small public plazas. Efforts are being made to coordinate streetscape improvement efforts with the nearby coming development at 650 Indiana Street. According to current plans, construction is expected to begin in June 2015 and be complete by September 2017. · 800 Indiana [SF Planning]
