The mega project at the former Schlage Lock Factory site in Visitacion Valley is chugging right along, looking to get their major approvals from the Planning Commission today. As you recall, the project looks to transform the long-vacant 15.3 acre site into 1,679 low and middle income apartments and condos, and 46,700 sq.ft. of ground-floor retail including a grocery store. The Commission will vote on a slew of amendments to the Planning Code, including a Special Use District, Planning Code Map, and General Plan, as well as the actual approval of the development agreement. This isn't the end of the road to approvals yet though - after the Planning Commission, the project will head to Public Utilities Commission, SFCTA, MTA, Recreation & Parks Commission, and Board of Supervisors. If all goes according to plan, the final approvals action by the Supes should happen in mid-July. · Amendments and Development Agreements - Schlage Lock Factory (pdf) [SF Planning]
