The historic Sears building in the center of Oakland's Uptown neighborhood has been purchased with plans to convert it into tech offices and retail. The six-story structure has 14-foot ceilings and huge windows, ideal for the type of office desired by many tech companies. Sears, the only current tenant, will vacate within 90 days to free up the 400,000 square foot space. [SF Business Times]
