Protecting Ocean Beach

Government agencies have joined together in support of a plan to save Ocean Beach, and it has attracted attention from the White House, with President Obama's environmental policy advisor visiting town yesterday to learn more. The plan involves closing the Great Highway south of Sloat Boulevard and is expected to ultimately cost $340 million. The presidential advisor, Mike Boots, expressed admiration for the way that the private and public sector had joined together on the plan. [SFGate]
