THE MISSION—Chino, the newest spot from the Tacolicious folks, is now open in the Mission with affordable Asian-inspired food (nothing's over $11) and cocktails. Check it out.
NOB HILL—Also open: Harper & Rye, a cool new bar from the team behind Tipsy Pig, Mamacita, and Padrecito. They've got cocktail jars to share and lots of room for groups.
BAY AREA—Where can you score a frosty ice cream sandwich to beat the heat? We found 15 of the area's best, including variations made with donuts, cupcake tops, macarons, and rice krispy treats.
SAN FRANCISCO—Eater critic Bill Addison has been taking SF by storm this week, with reviews of Saison, Yank Sing, and Bar Tartine on his Road to the 38. After you read them, check out our price tool to compare the real price of dining at Saison with the French Laundry, Meadowood, Coi, Manresa, and more.
OUTER RICHMOND—Outside Lands is just a couple of months away. Get pumped with all the info on this year's food vendors and what they're serving, including newbies like AQ, TBD, and Curry Up Now.
SOMA/MARINA/OAKLAND—Other crucial openings this week: Red Dog, the sequel to Il Cane Rosso, debuted in SOMA; Chubby Noodle's Marina location came online; and Oakland vegetarian fave Encuentro moved to a bigger space and expanded their menu.
THE MISSION—Remember Papalote's mac and cheese burrito? Well, it sold out in 30 minutes, and it's returning this weekend in a variation that includes fried chicken.
UNION SQUARE—Get ready to party at Romper Room, a forthcoming Maiden Lane bar owned by "tech party king" Joe Garvey, who runs the scavenger-hunt company CLASH.
