Bay Area's Spring Home Price Surge Strikes Again

New, 1 comment

In the springs of both 2012 and 2013, home prices in the Bay Area leapt sharply as the selling season kicked into full gear. It looks like the same has happened again this spring according to the latest Case-Shiller "high-tier" home price index that measures the price trends among houses prices at approximately $800,000 and up in the 5-county San Francisco metro area. Bay Area high-price-tier home prices have gone up approximately 37.5% since the housing recovery really began back in the spring of 2012, with the biggest surges coming each spring. The 2.4% increase from February to March this year is the largest since spring of last year and further increases are expected when data is released for April and May.
