New Senior Housing Coming to 24th Street in the Mission

The nondescript, underutilized structure on the southwest corner of Harrison and 24th Street will soon give way to new senior housing and community space. The project, sponsored by Mission Neighborhood Centers and Mercy Housing, has been dubbed the "Casa de la Misión," and will bring much-needed affordable units to a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. Salazar Architects came up with conceptual designs for the project a number of years ago, but it appears that HKIT Architects are now in charge of designing the building. Once complete, Casa de la Misión will feature 32 studio and 1-bedroom units situated above retail and space for MNC youth programming. The development team is actively seeking entitlements, and hopes to break ground on the project in "late 2014".
