After first announcing that costs were $300 million higher than initially anticipated, the Transbay Transit Center's costs have now soared another $150 million. In response, the transit center will undergo cosmetic cutbacks such as barer walls and beams and galvanized, painted steel fixtures instead of stainless steel. Private donors and sponsorships will also be sought to help pay for the rooftop park at the center. [SFGate]
