New Stanley Saitowitz Condos Planned for La Parrilla Site

News has come out that the owners of La Parrilla at 24th and Folsom are planning to build a new condo development on the site. Stanley Saitowitz will design the new building, but fear not, the owners claim the restaurant will move right back in to a ground floor space (along with another TBD retail tenant, possibly a take-out window for the restaurant). In fact, the owners are using the condo development to fund improvements to the restaurant. However some other businesses in the neighborhood aren't too happy about the plan, thinking the condos will contribute to gentrification.

The five-story building would include eight 2BR and twelve 1BR units, plus parking for eight cars. It's ground floor features an arcade design, while the other floors have Saitowitz-style glass boxes. The city's preliminary review suggests some design adjustments to the facade so that the building would be more in character with the neighborhood. The project is still in its early stages, with community outreach and formal environmental review still to come.
