McCoppin Hub To Enliven Drab Dead End in SoMa West

New, 2 comments

A desolate stretch of asphalt on a cul-de-sac just off Valencia is finally receiving a much-needed makeover. Though the dead end had long played host to Off the Grid, the space itself really didn't have much going for it. That'll change late this summer, when the McCoppin Hub opens to the public. The small but centrally-located spot between Hayes Valley and the oh-so-desirable Valencia corridor will feature new palm trees, grass, seating, pedestrian-scale lighting and space for multiple food trucks. The project, which has been in the works for several years, is poised to draw more attention to a rapidly evolving part of town, now referred to as "SoMa West". The McCoppin Hub should complement the extensive streetscape improvements being implemented throughout the neighborhood, as well as the new dog run and skate park being built right next door.
