LinkedIn Confirmed as Tenant for Entire Building at 222 Second

Last week's rumors that LinkedIn would be taking over all 26 stories of the new tower at 222 Second Street have now been confirmed and made official. The lease will give LinkedIn 450,000 square feet of space with room for 2,500 workers in the tower, designed by Tom Phifer with Gensler as the Architect of Record. 222 Second Street is currently under construction and set for completion in early 2016. LinkedIn is just the latest big tech company to announce a massive deal for an under-construction building, with companies like Microsoft, Trulia and Salesforce in its recent large deal all doing the same.

222 Second will be LinkedIn's third home in the city in addition to its main campus in Mountain View. It also occupies 135,000 square feet at One Montgomery in San Francisco and will take 87,000 square feet at 505 Howard when that building is completed. Additionally, the company inked a deal back in 2012 for 587,000 square feet in Sunnyvale, but will now probably sublease part of that space as it builds its footprint in San Francisco.
