Conservators at the Legion of Honor have spent the past year reconstructing an entire 625-square ft room, the Salon Doré, that is one of the finest examples of French neoclassical architecture existing today. The $2 million restoration has taken place behind a window and temporary wall that allowed museum visitors to view the ongoing work. The restoration is now complete and the room will be part of the museum's permanent collection. [NY Times]
