Hydrant Art

Guerrilla artists have been clandestinely spray painting San Francisco fire hydrants in the middle of the night, and while it may sound like fun, it can actually be dangerous. The hydrants contain crucial information about things like water pressure and water mains, and if firefighters can't read that information in an emergency it can cause them to be delayed. 35 to 40 hydrants have been painted in the past few months, costing the city $140,000 in repairs.
