The Morgan Estate in Los Altos Hills has been looking for a buyer off and on for six years and just recently re-listed yet again for $27 million, the same number it was unsuccessfully priced at last year. Perhaps with the booming market right now venture capitalist owner Kelly Porter is hoping he can finally find a buyer at this figure, which is absolutely affordable in comparison to its original 2008 $45 million list price. The 30,000 square foot manse was built back in 1914 and is listed on the Federal Historic Registry, which in addition to bestowing landmark status upon the estate also means it has low property taxes. Porter spent seven years renovating the mansion using more than 1,000 craftsmen. When he purchased the property, it was in disrepair with broken windows and neglected grounds. Post-renovation the main house's extravagant Tudor exterior is now matched with a rather over-the-top interior featuring gold leaf ceilings and a Venetian-inspired ballroom. There are seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a underground wine cellar/grotto, parking for twenty cars, a pool with fountains and a secret speakeasy accessed via a false door in the library.
