3450 Washington Quietly Sells for $18M, is Biggest Sale of 2014

Offered for as much as $21M at one point, 3450 Washington Street quietly sold on February 14 for $18M. The home had been owned by Peter Sperling, son of University of Phoenix founder John Sperling. If the home looks familiar, that's probably because it played host to the 2010 San Francisco Decorator Showcase. But first, a bit of history. The abode was commissioned by Elsa Guggenhime in 1929, and the architects were Albert Farr and his partner Joseph Francis Ward. It clocks in at an impressive 8,368 square feet, and boasts seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. With a sold price of $18M, that works out to $2,151 per square foot, well above the already pricey neighborhood median of $1,003. · Level Down: Sperling Looking to Offload [Curbed SF]
