New Ben Eine Mural Decorates 8 Octavia Construction Site

New, 3 comments

Famed street artist Ben Eine has a bright new mural in San Francisco at the 8 Octavia construction site in Hayes Valley. Eine, who is originally from London but now lives in San Francisco, spent three days painting the words "Amusement Times" in his signature colorful style on the construction bridge at 8 Octavia. Eine bases his art on typography and gained much of his fame when Prime Minister David Cameron presented one of his pieces to President Obama as an official gift. The 8 Octavia mural is his third in the neighborhood: he is also responsible for "Brighter Faster" at 432 Octavia and "Great Adventure" at the corner of Page and Octavia. Amsterdam-based designer-artist Niles "Shoe" Meulman added the words "un-unhappy times" to the new mural in brush-painted caligraffiti. A video produced by 8 Octavia developers DDG and DM Development shows the artists creating the new installation. An Eine mural also recently decorated another DDG condo project in Soho. The Stanley Saitowitz-designed 8 Octavia just topped out at eight floors and is expected to be fully completed this year, so the new artwork may not be around for long.
