Ocean Beach is spectacularly beautiful, but it doesn't take an urban planning expert to notice that it lacks amenities. That could change if the San Francisco Skateboarding Association has its way. The group helped make the uber-successful Balboa Skate Park a reality, and now has its sights set on an area near Ocean Beach. The idea has successfully been pitched to the folks over at the Recreation and Parks Department, who are supposedly on the hunt for potential skate park locations in the western section of Golden Gate Park, or somewhere equally close to the beach. Could this be our answer to L.A.'s famous outdoor skate park at Venice Beach? Maybe not, but it would most definitely entice more San Franciscans and tourists down to our lovely - albeit chilly - Pacific shore.
