Massive 350 8th Street Site Seeing Some Action in SoMa

New, 5 comments

Preliminary work has begun at 350 8th Street, the site of a massive new planned apartment community. The site was to be developed by the very busy Avalon Bay after they purchased a large portion of Archstone, but now developer Associated Estate Realty/AIG Global has taken control. The project was approved back in December of 2012 on the former Golden Gate Transit parking lot, but has been in the works since 2007. Originally planned for 720 units, the approved plan will build 410 studio to two-bedroom units spread among a group of 13 buildings, at least 62 of which will be affordable. The project will include 22,000 sq. ft. of retail space, 356 parking spaces and 392 bicycle spaces. According to an on-site contact, he work currently underway is PG&E upgrades to accommodate the actual project once it gets started. ·3.4 Acres of New Housing to Grow in SOMA [New Construction San Francisco]
