The Most Expensive Home Sale in Alameda Just Happened

Real estate in the East isn't known for being over-the-top expensive, but there are still million dollar homes to be had. With that in mind, Alain Pinel Realtors just announced that it closed escrow on a $3.4M single-family home, setting the record for the highest recorded sale of a single-family home ever in the City of Alameda. 1200 Saint Charles Street is in the heart of the Gold Coast neighborhood, where you'll find Alameda's most historic and stately abodes. The property was listed last December for $3.3M, which means it sold for $100K over asking. It was also the highest asking price ever in Alameda for a single-family home. The four-level Colonial revival has somewhere between 6,000 and 7,000 square feet of living space, and sits on three-quarters of an acre. It was built in 1898 by Bay Area Victorian architects Marcuse and Remmel. The home was on the market less than two week before it went into contract.
