There's a man with a plan to turn scraps from the old eastern span of the Bay Bridge into a building. "After contracting Caltrans regarding the bridge, I was informed that a majority of it will be scrapped," David Grieshaber says on the project website. "Let's save a piece for us." Grieshaber wants to create a three-story building that would include a loft for himself and his wife, rental space for Airbnb, and public space. The designs have been solidified and can be seen above, and now the project's trying to get support from government agencies as well as potential investors. The site for the proposed project hasn't yet been confirmed, though a view of the Bay Bridge from it is essential.
