Despite efforts to stop Califronia High-Speed Rail from becoming a reality, officials are still moving forward with changes to the Peninsula's right-of-way, currently used only by Caltrain. Modifications to the pathway will include electrification of Caltrain (from the current diesel) and the addition of 4 passing lanes for express trains. Upgrades are expected to be compete by 2019, while HSR is not expected to be finished until 2029. [SF Examiner]
