The district attorneys' offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles announced today that they've filed a civil consumer protection and unlawful business practices lawsuit against Uber. The suit alleges, among other things, that Uber falsely claimed to conduct "industry leading" background checks on UberX drivers, despite not running prospective drivers' fingerprints through law enforcement. Previously the DAs arrived at a $500,000 settlement with Lyft over a similar set of disputes. [SF Business Times]
