Dramatic Renderings Show BIG's Latest Designs for Complex at 950-974 Market

New, 6 comments

The plans for a new development at 950-974 Market Street have always been big, especially since Danish starchitects Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) came on board to design the project. Several sets of renderings were released previously, but a set of updated renderings has now popped up on the official website for the project. Buzzbuzzhome tipped us off to the images, which show a dramatic new entrance built into the lobby and a new three-section layout. The project, led by developers Group i, will include 310 residences, a hotel with 250 rooms, and a main level with 15,000 square feet of retail space and an "arts bar" with space for performances and visual arts.

The building is located on an irregular, triangle-shaped lot, and BIG's designs incorporate the shape into its layout for the project. The complex is broken into three main forms: one for the arts center, another for the hotel, and a third for the residences. A shared lobby connects the three spaces. An overhead view shows a green roof on the arts section of the complex, and more greenery on the roofs of each of the two larger sections. According to Group i, proposed heights range from 120 feet to 180 feet or more. The project is currently making its way through Planning approvals, and Group i hopes to start construction in early 2016.
