Smitten Begins Demolition on New Storefront in Pacific Heights

Last week Smitten, home of made-to-order single-serving bespoke ice cream and a popular place to wait in line, began demolition on a new location on California Street near Fillmore. Come summer, Pac Heights residents will no longer have to go below California to enjoy the sight of milkfat being forged into a semi-solid state with liquid nitrogen. The 900-square-foot shop, which takes the place of the old CopyNet, will be designed by the Brooklyn-based design-build outfit Hecho, who, incidentally, are the same crew who helped bring Dumpster pools to the streets of New York back in 2010. We hear the new Smitten will have six machines, playful indoor seating, and an outdoor gathering area (more commonly referred to as a "line"). Also: can we have a Dumpster pool, please?
