One of the more memorable homes to come on the market this year was 2555 Webster Street, a Pacific Heights seven-bedroom mansion with an indoor pool. Designed by neoclassical architect Julius Krafft and built in 1906, the home sits on the corner of Broadway and stretches over four levels. San Francisco's prime selling season for big homes is mostly over this late in the year, but this place just found a buyer willing to pay its significant asking price of $6.5 million. The sale came nearly five months after the house first went up for sale.
The home has some quirky touches like a pillared hallway and the totally over-the-top pool that sits beneath a cloud-painted ceiling, but there's also a lot of good. Box-beam ceilings, tons of stained glass, built-in window seats, and tiled fireplaces are among the best features. The house is filled with oriental rugs and heavy wood furniture. Hopefully the new buyers will manage to lighten it up a little without losing its history and atmosphere. However, we're not sure what to do about the pool.
