Uber could face harsh penalties that include the loss of its license to operate in California if the company continues to refuse to provide the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) with data about drivers and passengers. California's legalization of Uber and similar companies, like Lyft and Sidecar, required each company to submit information about numbers of drivers, where they drive, and who they drive. CPUC is looking for information such as how many people with disabilities use Uber and if drivers regularly underserve low-income communities and communities of color. [SF Examiner]
