The demolition crews aren't rolling in just yet—that comes this winter—but Candlestick is already a pretty lonely place. It's now lying vacant, awaiting demolition and redevelopment as a massive mixed-use housing and commercial project that includes a big outdoor mall. The 49ers played their final regular-season game there last December, Paul McCartney gave his pyrotechnic-fueled sendoff in August, and pairs of seats went on sale over the summer for $749 a pop. Now the stadium is a ghost town, with thousands of seats ripped out and many of the remainder overturned and busted up. Curbed photographer Patricia Chang recently took her drone to the scene and sent us a photoset of aerial views of the stadium in its current state, which is both forlorn and very disheveled—a far cry from the crowded stands of yore. if not for the clean appearance of the field, we'd think a tornado had blown through.
