Room for Debate

New, 1 comment

The Commonwealth Club's renovation of 110 the Embarcadero has reportedly hit a snag. The club, whose debates are broadcast on KQED, purchased the building in 2012 for $5.5 million and hired Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects and Gensler to renovate. The design restores the Steuart Street facade but inserts a new glass front on the Embarcadero side. The neighborhood group Rincon Point Neighbors Association has requested a hearing to challenge the design, which it rather uncharitably compares to a Gap store.
