Port, Developer Steel Themselves for an 8 Washington Rematch

New, 1 comment

The much-maligned mixed-use housing development 8 Washington, which was defeated last year by Proposition C, is definitely still dead. But Pacific Waterfront Partners is reportedly planning to reincarnate the project soon. According to the Barbary Coast News, the developer will present a new proposal to the Port Commission by the end of the year. Very little info has come to light so far—only that any new units proposed will presumably be lower in both height and price. And that seems like pretty much the only way to avoid another public defeat. As Jonathan Stern, a Port of San Francisco official, told the San Francisco Business Times, "They want to get it right … As the public partner in this, we want to see a project with at least as many if not more public benefits."
