Teamster Friend Request

Forty drivers of Facebook shuttles are looking to unionize with the Teamsters. According to the New York Times, many employees of Loop Transportation, the shuttle service Facebook contracts with, earn between $18 and $20 per hour and have health benefits, but they endure 15-hour days because their midday breaks don't allow enough time to go home in between the early-morning and late-evening shifts. The Teamsters are seeking to unionize Facebook drivers first, and will move on to Google, Apple, and other Silicon Valley companies next. [New York Times/Photo via SF Citizen]
