Overwrought House of Frills Chokes On Chintz, Cuts $250K

New, 3 comments

The mansion-slash-safehouse for decadent window treatments at 860 Fell Street in Alamo Square brought us much joy last month when it chopped its price by $496K after failing to find a buyer. Originally listed for $4.095 million, the Albert Pissis-designed manse is now even cheaper: The seller has cut another $250K to arrive at a new price of $3.349 million, but the home itself hasn't been able to wriggle free from all the ruffles, folds, and ruchings that cover every available surface. Our favorite touch is not textile related, however—it's got to be the boat chandelier, a rhinestone-encrusted vessel that can be seen sailing high above the kitchen while what look like statuettes in spotlit wall cubbies look on. We're positive that the (potentially) spacious five-bedroom underneath is mighty fine, if we could only get a good look at it.
