Listed for: $9.75M
Received: $11.75M
Size: 4-bed, 3.5-bath, 4,656-square-foot single-family home
Location: 2610 Scott St, Pacific Heights
The skinny: If this total stunner had been on the market for more than six days (which is how long it took to go into contract), it would have nabbed the No. 14 spot on our list of the 25 most expensive homes for sale in San Francisco. As it stands, 2610 Scott is the current top contender in our unofficial, just-made-up-on-the-spot ranking of the city's sexiest staircases, with a swoopy whorl of steps that, in all likelihood, helped hypnotize the buyer into plunking down a full $2 million over the asking price.
Listed for: $6.75M
Received: $6.3M
Size: 5-bed, 2.5-bath, 5,530-square-foot single-family home
Location: 3800 Clay St, Presidio Heights
The skinny: When it landed on the market just before Labor Day, this slightly imposing Arts & Crafts abode had been in the same family for most of the past half-century. The home made a brief appearance on our list of the 25 most expensive homes for sale in September, and we were charmed by its decorative fireplaces and gloomy ballroom paneled in dark wood. Maybe all those years off the market led the seller astray, though—the buyer hacked $450K off the list price.
Listed for: $4.1M
Received: $4,680,597
Size: 4-bed, 4-bath, 4,465-square-foot single-family home
Location: 2900 Baker St, Cow Hollow
The skinny: Last sold in 1996 for $1.34 million, the rosy-hued Mediterranean at 2900 Baker overlooks the Palace of Fine Arts. It has a sweet in-law unit and a garden deck. When the home landed on the market last month, we singled it out as an unusually respectful reno. Most of the original wood details survived, and even some of the light fixtures could pass for original.
