Cafe du Nord is Movin' on up Into the Rest of the Swedish American Hall

New, 2 comments

The recently sold Cafe du Nord currently takes up the basement space at 2170 Market, but they're looking to expand into the rest of the building. The former spaces of Cafe Cortado on the ground floor the Swedish American Hall on the uppers will be converted into restaurant space with a liquor license with banquet halls upstairs. They'll be adding an ADA compliant elevator and ADA bathrooms so that the whole space is accessible. On top of that, the Swedish Society of San Francisco is working toward landmarking the building. Everyone seems to be on board - there's been letters of support from the Castro Merchants/Merchants of Upper Market & Castro (MUMC), Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association, Castro/Upper Market Community Benefit District and the Swedish Society of San Francisco. Sounds like a slam dunk to us.
